MINSK, 26 December (BelTA) – By the end of the year, Belarus’ export to Russia might reach a record $22-23 billion, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA informs.

“In January-October, the export to the Russian Federation amounted to $18 billion, which is much more than in all previous years when it was the average of $12-13 billion. I hope that by the end of the year the figure will be about $22-23 billion. This is a huge amount. In January-October it rose by almost $5 billion. Now the pace is even higher, since a lot of machine-building products are usually shipped at the end of the year,” Roman Golovchenko said.

According to him, the share of Belarus in Russian imports is growing across almost all commodity groups. “This is very good. Indeed, if we could not offer anything, we would not be able to take advantage of the opportunities that have emerged,” the prime minister noted. “The export of Belarusian agricultural products has approached $8 billion on the back of efforts to redirect supplies to the Russian market. In general, this was a key task for the government,” he said.

“Our export plans have been fulfilled in 70 Russian regions. The export to 14 regions exceeds $100 million. Of course, there is still room for growth. Now we are creating opportunities to keep increasing exports to Russia. After all, the Russian economy is growing and is successfully dealing with sanctions, like Belarus. Therefore, there are enough financial resources. The Russian economy is stable, the macroeconomic stability is maintained. I think that everything is in place for us to perform next year not worse than this year,” the head of government emphasized.
