MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ economy will retain its social focus in 2023, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel on 1 January, BelTA has learned.

"We have adopted plans for the year. They have been approved. We need to ensure decent growth. The key issue is investment. We need to invest more than 20% in the country's economy. All this should give impetus, including to new jobs, especially in the regions. Remember our famous "One District - One Project", which is just now getting underway. We ended 2022 with an average salary in the public sector at Br1,250. This year we aim at Br1,454. We have planned measures for this. There is definitely no need to worry about salaries. In general, the country's economy will retain its social focus.  Belarusians should not worry; there are enough resources to fulfill all social obligations and not only them," Roman Golovchenko said.

He added that the salary fund in the public sector will grow by about 17%. "Accordingly, both benefits and pension payments will also be increased. By the way, last year we ensured real growth in pensions, that is, the growth of pensions overtook the growth of prices," the prime minister added.
