Plans to assemble Belarusian harvesters in Turkey

MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) – There are plans to set up an enterprise to assemble Belarusian harvesters in Turkey, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Turkey with concurrent accreditation to Iraq Andrei Savinykh on 10 July. The ambassador took part in a seminar for heads of diplomatic missions and consular institutions of Belarus.

Work is in progress to consider the possibility of assembling Belarusian harvesters in Turkey, said the ambassador. “We have something to offer to the Turkish mechanical engineering industry. We are moving from selling harvesters to discussing plans to set up an assembly enterprise in this country,” said Andrei Savinykh.

According to Andrei Savinykh, it is very important to reduce prices for merchandise shipments between Belarus and Turkey. “If we can transport cargoes by river-sea navigation vessels along the Dnieper River and all the way to Belarus, we will actually be able to transport cargoes between Belarus and Turkey by sea, thus halving the delivery costs,” said the ambassador. “In this fashion our landlocked country will become a sea-going power thanks to the Dnieper River. It will also allow enabling favorable conditions for the economic development of southern regions of Gomel Oblast.”

Partnership in finance can become another priority cooperation avenue. “In particular, we are talking about setting up a bank with Turkish capital in Belarus,” specified Andrei Savinykh.
