Plans for regular Belarusian-Polish seminars for businessmen in Gomel Oblast

GOMEL, 7 December (BelTA) – Seminars for businessmen will be held in Gomel Oblast on a regular basis as a way to advance business cooperation between the Belarusian and Polish private sectors. The relevant agreement was reached during the meeting of Gomel Oblast Governor Vladimir Dvornik and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Belarus Konrad Pawlik in Gomel on 7 December, BelTA has learned.

The Ambassador suggested arranging a seminar soon for Polish businessmen, who work, for instance, in agriculture and processing industry. The Gomel Oblast Governor backed the idea and suggested getting the businessmen familiar with the available investment projects as well as ways to acquire real estate in Gomel Oblast on preferential terms with a view to implementing these projects.

Before meeting with the head of the Gomel Oblast administration Konrad Pawlik visited the company DelKom40, which was established in 2016 with a share of Polish capital. In his words, the company will use a full furniture production cycle and is destined to become the flagship of Polish investments in the southeastern region of Belarus. “At present it employs about 60 people. In the near future the number will rise to 1,000 people,” he remarked.

The sides also see a great potential for advancing bilateral cooperation in interregional ties. Agreements on friendship and cooperation with Polish cities and towns have been signed by Gomel, Mozyr, Rechitsa, Svetlogorsk, and Petrikov. In Gomel Oblast there are 25 companies with a share of Polish capital. They specialize in woodworking, agriculture, wholesale grain trade, and waste processing.
