Plans for new government program to support SMEs in Belarus

MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – Plans have been made to work out a new government program to support small and medium private companies, BelTA learned from First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin during a meeting with representatives of the business community.

Alexander Turchin said: “We would like to make a new entrepreneurship support program.” Not only the relevant ministry, but representatives of the private sector are supposed to help develop it.

Alexander Turchin underlined that it is quite an ambitious task, including the timeframe. The relevant regulatory act needs to be drafted by the end of the year. “Because, unfortunately, the current program didn’t work and does not work,” he said.

Alexander Turchin also remarked that it is up to small and medium private companies to reach the intended goal of creating new jobs.

In turn, representatives of associations of private companies brought their proposals to the attention of the first deputy prime minister of Belarus.
