Plans for nearly 40 fairs to sell Belarusian goods in Russia

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – The Minsk-based foreign trade promotion enterprise cwill organize nearly 40 fairs in regions of Russia in 2016 to sell Belarusian goods, BelTA learned from Ruslan Mekhtiyev, Head of the Fairs and Trade Shows Organization Department of the enterprise.

As many as 12 fairs will take place in Saint Petersburg and another eight will be held in Moscow. Apart from that, arrangements have been made for fairs in Nizhny Novgorod, Kaluga, Obninsk, and Kostroma. Three fairs will be arranged in Baltic states, in particular, in Lithuania and Estonia.

According to the source, along with Minsk-based enterprises Belarusian enterprises from all over the country participate in these fairs to sell their products abroad. “For instance, last year over 100 Belarusian enterprises took part in Minskvneshtorginvest fairs. About 30 enterprises per fair are represented on the average,” said the executive.

In his words, Belarusian products are popular with Russian consumers, who appreciate their quality, affordable prices, and wide choice. “We see solid demand for our meat and dairy products, confectionary, knitted wear, footwear, and apparel,” noted the source. In 2015 the enterprises that took part in these fairs sold $6 million worth of merchandise.

Ruslan Mekhtiyev added that trade pavilions during such fairs follow the same style and use national colors.

The next fair will be held in Saint Petersburg on 18-24 April.

The municipal enterprise Minskvneshtorginvest was founded in 2004 for the sake of arranging fairs and trade shows abroad, arranging business meetings, and facilitating merchandise export.
