MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – The State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus plans to start a joint project in the area of robot technology in 2015. The project will involve scientists from Japan and the Republic of Korea, BelTA learned from the Committee’s Chairman Alexander Shumilin at the opening of the expo Automation. Electronics 2015 on 3 February, BelTA has learned.

“Scientists from Japan and the Republic of Korea show interest in our research in the area of robotics technology. We are now discussing the possibility of implementing a joint project in 2015,” explained Alexander Shumilin. In his words, representatives of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and a Belarusian university may represent the Belarusian side in the project.

“Robotics stands for technologies that comprise many areas. Software is necessary in order to create robots and Belarus excels at software development. Precise mechanics and hydraulics, new materials are needed as well. By developing robotics, we advance other areas, too,” stressed the Committee’s Chairman.

Alexander Shumilin also remarked that the use of robots negates the human factor. “Robots never make errors and therefore there will be no product flaws. Apart from that, there is a huge market for robots. The number of robots doubles every two years,” he said.

“Automation and robotics will become our priority directions for the next five-year term,” stressed the Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus.

The 18^th expo Automation. Electronics 2015 is scheduled to take place on 3-6 February. It features about 100 exhibitors from eight countries.
