MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko talked about peculiarities of the draft government program on electric transport development in 2021-2025 as he visited the mechanical engineering company Belkommunmash, BelTA has learned.

According to Roman Golovchenko, electric industry and electric transport represent key avenues of the country’s social and economic development program for the next five years. “It is a very live and rapidly developing matter. We see the world’s electric transport development trends, this is why it is very important to compare notes, as they say, and not to lose anything. I decided to hold a dedicated conference at Belkommunmash’s premises, after which it turned out that the developers had failed to take into account all aspects and now it is necessary to promptly take measures to considerably rework the draft program. I’ve given instructions to make all the components absolutely interconnected,” Roman Golovchenko said.

It is necessary to coordinate manufacturing and technological processes with the development of the vehicle charging infrastructure. An increase in the number of charging stations requires a better power grid. All of it needs to go hand in hand with measures meant to encourage more active adoption of electric transport not only by individuals but companies as well. “The developers failed to take into account mutual ties in a number of these areas, this is why we discussed in detail how correctly all the components should be tied together in order to make a clear-cut, slender, understandable system,” Roman Golovchenko explained.

For instance, thanks to the system infrastructure developers will be able to find out how many electric vehicles will be bought to satisfy city needs. Electric companies will know how much additional energy generation capacity they need. “We’ve come to terms on many matters. Tasks have been set. The program should be ready by the end of the year,” the official stressed.

The draft program on electric transport development in Belarus in 2021-2025 is supposed to be finished by 1 January 2021.
