Over 4.4m tonnes of grain and rapeseed threshed in Belarus

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Over 4.4 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 27 July, 4.463 million tonnes of grain (including rapeseed) was harvested, which includes 3.451 million tonnes of cereals and leguminous crops and 1.012 million tonnes of winter rapeseed.

Gomel Oblast and Brest Oblast completed harvesting winter rapeseed.

The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast harvested 1.151 million tonnes of grain (including rapeseed), Brest Oblast -1.075 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast - 992,100 tonnes, Gomel Oblast - 494,400 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast  - 454,000 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast - 296,400 tonnes.

As to other crops, 73% of spring barley was harvested, 59.5% of winter rye, 44% of wheat, 34% of triticale, 29% of legumes, and 33% of oats.

All oblasts have completed harvesting winter barley.

Meanwhile, flax was pulled from 29,700 hectares, which is 66.5% of the area under this crop. Grain and legumes straw was collected from 44.6% of cut fields.

A total of 3.381 million tonnes of grass fodder have been harvested (34.4% of the plan).

Farmers are stepping up efforts to apply organic fertilizers. All in all, 11.9 million tonnes of fertilizers were placed on the fields in the run-up to sowing winter crops, 2.10 million tonnes of fertilizers have already been applied.
