MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – More than 250 new R&D products of  the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) enter production annually, NASB Chief Scientific Secretary Andrei Ivanets told journalists on 15 October, BelTA has learned.

“This year has been difficult due to the pandemic, but Belarusian scientists have carried on with their work in a normal mode. The NASB is an R&D corporation. It comprises around 70 scientific organizations and about 40 R&D facilities. At present, our organizations operate more than 150 manufacturing facilities of various sizes: laboratories, pilot facilities, and even plants. Over 250 new NASB solutions enter production every year. We are currently compiling a book about all solutions introduced in 2019,” Andrei Ivanets said.

The National Academy of Sciences has established close cooperation with various Belarusian ministries. “For example, the NASB provides scientific support for the agricultural sector and tightly cooperates with the Agriculture and Food Ministry. It also cooperates with the Healthcare Ministry in the development of new pharmaceutical products, genetic technologies, and the digital healthcare system. The NASB has designed an ePrescription and the unified computer-aided system of healthcare workers,” he noted.

The NASB also cooperates with the Industry Ministry. It has set up a scientific council jointly with the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ. Scientists calculate reliability and durability, develop special types of steel, and create simulation systems. “We also have a scientific council with MAZ. We are involved in the development of a low-floor bus and a Belarusian electric bus. The NASB also cooperates with the s BMZ teel mill: our scientific support contributes to the expansion of the product range,” Andrei Ivanets added.
