MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – The output of woodworking enterprises of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom increased by 2.8 times over the course of five years, BelTA learned from Bellesbumprom Deputy Chairman Aleksandr Pshenny during the youth forum of Bellesbumprom organizations “We are the country’s future” in Minsk on 2 February.

Aleksandr Pshenny said: “We’ve gathered here today in order to talk about what we are worried about, about our vision of development of the industry, our cities and the country as a whole, in order to discuss some ideas, proposals, and in order to simply get familiar with each other and communicate. I think we will make the organization of the youth forum an annual event in order to more frequently meet, communicate, and move together towards our goal. And we have one goal – to make our business successful and prosperous so that our work would benefit every worker of the enterprise and Belarus as a whole, so that it would contribute to the country’s growth and development. I am convinced it will happen this way.”

In his words, Bellesbumprom enterprises changed their image in the last ten years. Thanks to modernization they reached a brand new level of technologies and industrial standards. Modern automated equipment and qualified personnel allow making a broad range of quality products that sell well on multiple foreign markets. In the last five years the output of Bellesbumprom’s woodworking enterprises increased by 2.8 times while the output of the pulp and paper enterprises rose by 2.6 times.

The executive told participants of the forum: “We make over 70 kinds of various goods out of wood, pulp, paper, and cardboard. We use a closed cycle of production and processing of raw materials. About 80% of Bellesbumprom’s output is exported to 75 countries. Despite the problems plaguing the world (the coronavirus pandemic, political disturbances, and sanctions) we did not stop, we worked hard, and this is why we have a result. The president noted it in his address to the nation and the parliament on 28 January. The implementation of investment projects in the woodworking industry faced a lot of criticism. Modernization didn’t go smoothly because, for all intents and purposes, we pioneered the construction of such plants and factories in the republic. There were problems but they have been resolved. Today Bellesbumprom enterprises drive the growth of the country’s production sector. It is our great common accomplishment, including of every one of you.”

Bellesbumprom enterprises employ 5,264 people aged under 31. They represent one fifth of the industry’s personnel. “This is why your contribution is substantial. And prospects of our enterprises are also in your hands. The older generation of managers and specialists share experience with you but it will be up to you to build the future. What Bellesbumprom enterprises will look like in 10, 15, 20 years depends on you. Because we don’t stop and continue working on new promising projects,” Aleksandr Pshenny stressed.

Bellesbumprom enterprises will soon increase their contribution to the rational usage of forests and timber materials of the country, to efforts to improve the effectiveness of the woodworking industry complex, and to the accomplishment of common social and economic tasks of the state, the deputy chairman noted. Development priorities of the Belarusian woodworking industry include further development of manufacturing facilities, introduction of new effective technologies, creation of new kinds of products, preservation and enhancement of worker collectives.

Aleksandr Pshenny pointed out: “It will be up to you to accomplish these goals. You are the people, the human resources that the industry needs so desperately. Young and enterprising people, who are guided by laws of the market instead of cut-and-dried solutions, should run modern enterprises. People capable of rapidly responding to market changes, people able to ensure the stable operation of the enterprise and its sustainable development are needed.”

Aleksandr Pshenny stressed that Bellesbumprom enterprises hire a considerable number of young specialists every year. “About 100-150 people. And we are glad that the young people become part of our large worker family. I’d like to wish every one of you a successful career, the desire to grow and keep on moving, to work at your full capacity. The work of every one of you will make up the overall success of the woodworking industry in Belarus and hence the overall wellbeing of the state,” the Bellesbumprom deputy chairman concluded.

The youth forum “We are the country’s future” is dedicated to the Year of Historical Memory. Young Bellesbumprom employees are taking part in the forum. The forum is taking place in a youth business incubator. The speakers include Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom Aleksandr Pshenny, Chairwoman of the Belarusian Trade Union of Forest and Nature Management Workers Cheslava Goyeva, and a member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Sergei Klishevich. A discussion platform will be arranged for the sake of talking over any matters the young people are concerned about. They will be able to express their opinions, submit proposals, and simply talk to friends and colleagues.
