Omsk, Mogilev set to establish partnership ties

MOGILEV, 15 May (BelTA) – Russia’s Omsk and the Belarusian city of Mogilev signed a protocol formalizing their intention to establish partnership ties on 15 May, BelTA has learned.

Chairman of the Mogilev City Council of Deputies Sergei Ivanov noted during the official reception that the cities have great cooperation prospects. “We are interested in promoting the products of our enterprises on the Russian market, attracting foreign investments, and developing tourism and social services. Mogilev and Omsk have become closer to each other over the last years. The construction of a plant to produce technical carbon in Mogilev and the increase in trade between Mogilev and Omsk Oblast of Russia prove this,” Sergei Ivanov stressed.

Attending the signing ceremony were representatives of the administrations of the two cities, leading culture, education and healthcare specialists, economists, and businessmen from Omsk and Mogilev. The Russian delegation comprised employees of the pharmaceutical company Elyusan, Omsk Transport Machine-Building Plant, the Omsk scientific research institute of railway transport, and the pasta factory Dobrodeya.

The guests learned about the history of Mogilev, the Mogilev Free Economic Zone, and some promising areas for developing business in the region.

The Mogilev Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will hold a business matchmaking session during the visit of the Omsk delegation. Besides, the delegation will visit the Bagima gymnastics school for children, nursery school No.116 and secondary school No.45, and will have a guided tour around the city. The Russian guests will also visit the Buinichi Field memorial.
