MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – The value of transaction deals by Russia’s Novgorod Oblast businesses accredited on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) nearly doubled in H1 2026, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.
This growth was driven by a larger number of market participants from this Russian region, as well as an expanded range of goods traded under exchange contracts between Belarusian and Novgorod companies. Deputy Head of the Foreign Economic Activity Department at BUCE German Puzyrny shared this information during an online webinar for the Novgorod Oblast business community, which was organized in partnership with the Novgorod Small Business Support Fund.
“Among the key factors that drove the positive dynamic in trade with Novgorod Oblast, we should note the entry of five new companies from the region, which began trading on our platform almost immediately. Additionally, new items emerged in the structure of mutual trade, namely hardwood lumber and phosphor copper. The former is in demand among Novgorod enterprises, while the latter is sought after by Belarusian companies. Furthermore, sales figures were significantly boosted by increased supplies of Belarusian meat products, specifically frozen semi-finished beef products,” German Puzyrny said.
Director of the Novgorod Oblast Export Support Center Aleksei Syrnikov noted the vital role of mechanisms like the commodity exchange in developing interregional trade and building long-term cooperation ties between Novgorod and Belarusian enterprises. He also expressed readiness to deepen cooperation with BUCE across all areas of mutual interest.
“Naturally, promoting the products of Novgorod manufacturers to the Belarusian market is a top priority for us, so we would like to focus on this area of cooperation. The 25 Novgorod companies currently accredited on BUCE are definitely not enough to fully realize our region’s export potential. Today’s online webinar can be considered the first step in our cooperation with the exchange, and down the road, we are ready to hold such events on a regular basis,” the head of the regional export support center stated.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
