Niamey seeks to import MAZ passenger and utility vehicles

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Niamey, the capital of Niger will establish a working group on the supply of passenger and utility vehicles manufactured by Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Industry Ministry following a working visit to the Republic of Niger by a Belarusian delegation headed by Deputy Industry Minister Denis Bakei.
On the first day of the visit, the delegation was received by Niamey Mayor Colonel Boubacar Garanké. The parties agreed upon and prepared for signing a memorandum of understanding between the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Niamey municipality, providing for the creation of a joint working group on the supply of MAZ passenger transport and utility vehicles to the city.
At a meeting with Niger’s Vocational Training Minister Moumouni Farmo, the parties discussed strengthening educational exchange and training personnel for service and technical centers.
The Belarusian delegation was also received by Niger’s Prime Minister Ali Zeine. The parties reviewed ways to expand mutually beneficial cooperation. Talks were also held with Niger’s Energy Minister Amadou Hama, who confirmed the demand for Belarusian transformers in electrification projects. Interest was also expressed in BelAZ mining equipment, which could be used in coal extraction sites.
During a meeting at the Niamey Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Belarusian delegation studied in detail the conditions for doing business in the country and the existing development programs across various sectors of the economy.
During negotiations with the Secretary General of the Agriculture and Livestock Ministry Abdu Ousmane, the parties discussed in detail an irrigation program to bring land into agricultural use, as well as issues of mechanizing agriculture. Delegation representatives provided detailed information on the advantages of MTZ agricultural machinery and related attachments produced by Belarusian manufacturers.
Earlier, a delegation of Belarusian industry enterprises (MAZ, MTZ, BelAZ, Kozlov METZ), together with partner company Quantum Dynamics, visited the Republic of Mali and Burkina Faso.
