MTZ plans to start tractor exports to South Sudan in early 2016

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) plans to deliver a big batch of tractors to South Sudan in early 2016, MTZ Acting Deputy Director General, Marketing Director Vladimir Makarenko told media ahead of a conference for dealers of the MTZ commodity distribution network on 22 December, BelTA informs.

“This year MTZ has worked hard in Africa and in 2016 we plan to launch our supplies to the RSA and Nigeria. Apart from that, about 800 tractors will be delivered to South Sudan in the near future,” said Vladimir Makarenko.

In his words, the exports to the countries of Africa in 2015 will make up 980 units worth of $15.6 million. Egypt is the biggest market in the region. In 2015 MTZ opened its trading house there. This year Minsk Tractor Works exported more than 870 units worth of $12.9 million to Egypt. “Next year we plan to supply nearly 1,500 tractors there. Besides, we plan to reach the markets of the neighboring countries – Sudan and Ethiopia – via our trading house,” the Marketing Director explained.

Speaking about the exports to the countries of Latin America, Vladimir Makarenko said that, according to the preliminary estimates, the supplies will make up nearly 650 tractors worth of $17.4 million. The major supplies, 540 tractors, went to Cuba. First batches of tractors were sent to Guatemala, Peru, Chile and Mexico.

“In 2016 we will continue advancing our products to that market. There is a possibility to supply a big batch of equipment to Nicaragua with the help of the Development Bank of Belarus. We are also planning to advance our new product, tractors of the capacity of 50-60 horsepower, to the American continent for garden works. Chile is interested with our proposal,” said Vladimir Makarenko. In his words, the work in the region will be simplified with the construction of the MTZ assembly plant in Brazil. The construction of the plant will be started in 2016.

The commodity distribution network of the MTZ Holding Company in America comprises one assembly plant and 11 dealers.

Minsk Tractor Works was founded in 1946. It is part of the system of enterprises run by the Belarusian Industry Ministry. The company offers over 60 models and modifications of tractors and vehicles with over 200 options for all kinds of climatic and operational conditions. For the last few years MTZ has kept an 8-10% share of the global market of wheeled tractors. MTZ has assembly enterprises in Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, China, Romania, Egypt, Serbia, Algeria, Venezuela, and other countries. In 2015 the company sold to 64 countries.
