More ways for Belarusians to make money without registering self-employed business

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – The Tax and Duties Ministry believes that the number of profitable activities an individual can pursue without getting registered as a self-employed businessperson may be expanded, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Tax and Duties Minister Svetlana Shevchenko on 13 October.

The official said: “If we get the relevant proposals and we see that some kinds of activities should be indeed declassified as entrepreneurship and included into the list of activities one may pursue using the declarative principle, then certainly the activities will be added to the Tax Code and we will expand the practice including the payment of the self-employed tax.”

On 19 September 2017 the Belarus president signed decree No.337 on regulating economic affairs of natural persons. The decree expanded the list of business operations, which citizens can carry out without getting registered as self-employed businessmen, provided they still pay the self-employed tax.

The list of profitable activities Belarusians can pursue without registration as a self-employed businessman includes selling home-cooked food, giving temporary accommodation to natural persons, repairing furniture, clocks, watches, and footwear, sewing clothes, tuning musical instruments, sawing firewood, loading cargoes, building fireplaces and stoves, performing decoration work in civil engineering, developing websites, maintaining computers and peripherals. The list also includes the services of interior design, furniture, apparel and footwear design, graphic design, hairdressing, and beauty services.
