Mogilev’s Lenta to set up joint venture with German company

MOGILEV, 26 January (BelTA) – Mogilev-based textile producer Lenta plans to set up a joint company with German Hartmann to produce medical goods, BelTA learnt from Lenta Director General Sergei Petrov.

The talks with the representatives of Hartmann are underway to decide on possible investing in the Mogilev company to purchase new equipment for building up the company's capacities and expanding the assortment of the medical products. In February representatives of the German company are expected to visit Mogilev for the company’s audit. The decision will then be made on injecting the capital and setting up a joint company. “We are interested in developing cooperation with Hartmann, which is one of the world’s leading producers of medical goods. It will help us produce new products in the future, increase the output, launch the exports to the post-Soviet countries and the European Union,” the Director General said.

Over the past years Mogilev’s Lenta has been developing a new area in its production – medical products. “Today our company is the country’s leading producer of bandaging materials. We satisfy 25% of the domestic needs today. Our bandages meet the European standards and have higher hygienic and performance properties in comparison with the existing analogues. We have also launched the production of face masks and drapes, first-aid dressing packages. The market of medical products is huge and promising. The development of this area will help the company find new markets and satisfy the domestic market with import-substituting products,” said Sergei Petrov.

Lenta Company was founded in 1961 and reorganized into an open joint stock company in 1993. It is Belarus’ leading producer of textile and fancy goods, curtains, bandaging materials. Lenta makes part of Bellegprom Concern. The company renews its products on the annual basis.
