MOGILEV, 10 September (BelTA) – The investment forum Mogilev District – Territory of Opportunities will take place in the village of Saltanovka in Mogilev District on 11 September, BelTA learned from the Mogilev Region Development Agency.

The forum will bring together around 200 representatives of business, investment companies, associations of entrepreneurs, and international organizations from Belarus, Russia, Germany, Japan, China, and Turkey, as well as district and regional authorities. The forum will demonstrate the investment and economic capacity of Mogilev District in agriculture, manufacturing, trade, services, agro-ecotourism, and other areas. This will boost the economy, support small and medium-sized enterprises, and strengthen ties between Belarusian companies and their foreign partners.

The program of the event includes an online plenary session featuring senior officials, representatives of other countries, and heads of businesses. Plans are in place to sign a number of documents at the event.

The forum will also include an exhibition showcasing the industrial, agricultural, and tourist capacity of Mogilev District, a presentation of investment projects suggested for implementation in the district, and visits to local enterprises. The event will also comprise two sections: “Promising investment projects. Attracting investment to raise competitiveness of business” and “Assessment of the potential and priorities in transition to circular economy of Mogilev Oblast”. The sections will focus on sectoral issues, interaction between SMEs and large companies with government authorities, access to financing, the current targets of the process to integrate the Belarusian business in the global economic space. The forum will wrap up with the ceremony to present awards for contribution to the social and economic development of Mogilev District.

The investment forum Mogilev District – Territory of Opportunities will be held for the second time. The first forum resulted in eight cooperation agreements and ten investment contracts worth a total of $223 million.

Mogilev District has well-developed infrastructure and enjoys a favorable geographic location. It is home to a part of a free economic zone and more than 40,000 residents, which means enough workforce. Mogilev Oblast also boasts high business activity: there are about 20 economic entities and 30 individual entrepreneurs per every 1,000 residents. The district long ago turned from an agricultural into an industrial area with decent average salary and high labor productivity. Numerous natural and architectural landmarks offer unlimited opportunities for the development of tourism.

The organizers of the forum are the Mogilev District Executive Committee, and the Mogilev Region Development Agency.
