MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Minsk will host the third Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions on 6-10 June 2016. This was announced during a meeting of the organizing committee at the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic Anatoly Rusetsky said: "It is very important that this should not be the event solely for government officials. We will aim for wide participation.” The forum will focus on the coherent social policy of the Union State. The event is planned to discuss such topics as mass media of the two countries, healthcare, youth policy, social protection, etc.

Anatoly Rusetsky recalled that the previous forum was held in Sochi on 17-18 September 2015 and discussed the industrial policy. It was attended by the two heads of state. Taking part in the forum were representatives of more than 50 Russia regions and all regions of Belarus. A total of 19 agreements were signed, contracts worth more than $250 million were concluded.

Agreements were signed between the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Russian Agricultural Center of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, OOO Agroferment and the Russian Research Institute of Biotechnology of Plant Protection. Belarusian State University, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Belarusian-Russian University and BNTU’s Politekhnik signed agreements on scientific and technical cooperation with the Donsky State Technical University.
