Minsk to host Belarus-Russia meeting of archivists on 10-12 October

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – A meeting of the heads of the archival services of Belarus and Russia will take place in Minsk on 10-12 October, Director of the Department on Archives and Records Management at the Justice Ministry of Belarus Viktor Kurash told the media, BelTA has learned.

The program will include a joint board meeting of the Department on Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of Belarus and the Federal Archival Agency of Russia. Participants will discuss the scientific support for the activity of the archival services of the two countries. “We will share the working experience, discuss current problems, consider possible solutions both in the operation of the archival services and the improvement of the corresponding legislation,” Viktor Kurash said.

The department and the archives work in close cooperation with foreign counterparts. Belarusian archivists take part in almost every international event. In summer 2017 they participated in the EURASICA General Conference.

Belarusian specialists establish ties with the Finnish archives. “They have huge experience in document digitizing and they share their knowledge with us. They have also invited our specialists to attend seminars on electronic document management. We have been also closely cooperating with the Polish archival services. They invite us to their scientific conferences. China joined the EURASICA not long ago. Their experience is very useful for us as well,” said Viktor Kurash.
