Minsk hosts session of Belarus-Russia Interbank Currency Council

MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) – The Interbank Currency Council of the central banks of Russia and Belarus gathered for a regular, 42nd, session in Minsk, BelTA learned from the information and public relations department of the National Bank of Belarus.

The meeting was held with the participation of the Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus Pavel Kallaur and Chairwoman of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina. The meeting was attended by other representatives of the central banks of the two countries. "The parties exchanged views on the current economic situation and the monetary policies of Belarus and Russia in 2015, including the exchange rate policy, summed up the performance of the banking systems of the two countries in 2014,” the department informed.

The meeting also discussed the bilateral balance of payments and the balance of payments of the Union State in 2014, the dynamics of international reserves and foreign currency liquidity of Belarus and Russia. "There was also an exchange of views on the status of the settlements in national currencies in mutual trade and the cooperation in the prevention of counterfeiting in Belarus and Russia," the National Bank added.
