Minister shares details of Belarus-Indonesia negotiations on healthcare

JAKARTA, 2 July (BelTA) – Discussion of cooperation prospects between Belarus and Indonesia is underway in the areas of education and pharmaceuticals, Belarusian Healthcare Minister Aleksandr Khodzhayev told journalists in Jakarta, BelTA has learned.

“We are working along the tracks of education and pharmaceuticals. This issue was discussed with representatives of the Ministry of Health of Indonesia and with those companies that are interested in promoting their medicines in Belarus. And our representatives interacted with them in order to introduce them to the range [of domestic medicines] and reach agreements on promoting our products,” the minister said.

He noted that Belarus is expecting the arrival of Indonesian partners to show them on site the capabilities of Belarusian pharmaceutical production and to demonstrate the format of educational services in medicine.

“In this part we see interest. It was expressed in specific areas. We discussed the number of students who could come to study in Belarus, the number of doctors who could also come and receive higher levels of postgraduate medical education. In this part there are also certain areas that interest them the most. These are cardiology, oncology, and transplantology. We will certainly show our other areas as well,” Aleksandr Khodzhayev stated.

As BelTA previously reported, during the official visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Indonesia, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the ministries of healthcare of the two countries. “The document we signed is the foundation for the work that will be built in the shortest possible time,” the minister noted.
