Milk yield per cow to reach record levels in Belarus in 2017

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – The milk production per cow in Belarus will reach record levels in 2017, Belarus’ First Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Marinich told the media on the sidelines of Prodexpo 2017 on 14 November, BelTA has learned.

“Today we are looking into the performance of the country’s agro-industrial complex. In January-September 2017 the production growth totaled 3.5%. The growth was registered both in the grain gross yield and the sweet corn gross yield. This year we will reach the average 5,000 liters of milk per cow, which is a record high for us,” Leonid Marinich said.

The 23rd edition of the international wholesale exhibition Prodexpo is running at the Belexpo national exhibition center in Minsk on 14-17 November. The expo features food products of national and foreign producers: bakery and confectionery products, meat and meat products, sausages, dairy products, fruit and vegetables, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, tea, coffee, grocery, frozen products, baby food, and others.

The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Ministry, the Trade Ministry, Belgospishcheprom Concern, Minsk City Hall and Belcoopsoyuz.
