Malorita Vegetable Cannery ships trial batches to Italy, Estonia

BREST, 2 June (BelTA) – Malorita Vegetable Cannery, Brest Oblast, has shipped trial batches to Italia and Estonia, BelTA learned from deputy director of the enterprise Lyudmila Voznosimenko.

The cannery shipped birch syrup and fruit infusions. If the products find their customers, these first deliveries will be followed by others. In Estonia, the products will be distributed through a network of retail outlets. As for Italy, the goods have been shipped to the restaurant Belarusian Cuisine in Milan. Lyudmila Voznosimenko pointed out that representatives of the Italian company Hotel Bozen Srl praised the design and quality of the Belarusian juices and fruit and vegetable purees during their visit to Minsk and expressed the willingness to establish cooperation with the Malorita cannery.

Besides, the enterprise considers supplying birch syrup to the United States. A Russian trading partner of the Malorita cannery will act as an intermediary. Russia, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Voronezh, Smolensk, and other regions accounts for 87% of the exports. Last year the enterprise also supplied its products to Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Armenia, Turkmenistan, and the Baltic states. All in all, the cannery exported 35% of its output to the tune of $2 million in 2014.

The enterprise is currently preparing for the new season. This year Malorita Vegetable Cannery has processed around 300 tonnes of birch syrup and is getting ready for the strawberry season. “Traditionally, we buy berries from farmers in Malorita District and Luninets District. We expect to can not less than 50 tonnes of strawberries,” Lyudmila Voznosimenko noted.

Malorita Vegetable Cannery also processes currants, raspberries, blueberries, carrots, apples, pumpkins, cucumbers, cauliflower, and some other fruits and vegetables. Its products do not contain preservatives and flavoring agents.

Malorita Cannery is owned by the Belarusian state concern of food industry Belgospishcheprom. The enterprise is the largest Belarusian manufacturer of baby food (Toptyshka trademark), vegetable and fruit juices, pickled products, jams, and other similar products. The first batch of goods was produced in 1955. Today the product range features over 180 items. Malorita Vegetable Cannery won the national contest Crystal Apple 2014 organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
