MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko believes that the pace of implementation of Belarusian investment projects abroad should be higher, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi told the media following his report to the head of state on 18 July, BelTA has learned.

According to Dmitry Krutoi, a meeting on the implementation of Belarus’ most important investment projects abroad is scheduled for next week. The need for the meeting is driven in part by Aleksandr Lukashenko’s recent major overseas visit. “Our leader believes that the current pace of these investment projects is not entirely satisfactory. Now is a very good time to secure a foothold in the markets of these countries,” Dmitry Krutoi emphasized.

The head of the Belarus President Administration cited Indonesia, the world’s fourth most populous country, as an example of a nation with significant demand for various products. At the same time, trade alone is no longer sufficient for developing cooperation. “To secure a stable and long-term foothold in these markets, we need joint investment projects,” he emphasized.

This applies primarily to assembly plants. However, this does not mean relocating ready-made Belarusian enterprises to various regions of the world. “As the president says, we need to properly divide the value-added chain so that a joint product - whether in Indonesia, China, Uzbekistan, or African countries - can qualify for local subsidy programs. This is, of course, a task for our industrial and agricultural sectors, as well as other industries involved in relevant projects,” the head of the Belarus President Administration said.

According to him, Aleksandr Lukashenko will hear reports from officials assigned to specific regions who are responsible for investment projects. “I think this will be a very good and useful discussion on the pressing issues of the day,” Dmitry Krutoi concluded.
