Lukashenko visits Belarus-Turkmenistan expo, Olympic Village in Ashgabat

ASHGABAT, 11 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, who is now in Turkmenistan, visited the Belarus-Turkmenistan expo and the Olympic Village in Ashgabat on 11 December, BelTA has learned.

The expo features products of 117 companies. The fair takes place on the ground floor of the complex. All people can come and taste the products; the fair is also a good platform for establishing contacts with interested dealers. The exhibits include foodstuffs, consumer goods, particularly, Belarusian furniture, gas ovens, Belarusian wallpaper and other products which can be in demand on the market of Turkmenistan today. The first floor of the complex hosts an exposition for specialists who discuss future contracts, possible deliveries of products, and the prospects of industrial cooperation.Lukashenko visits Belarus-Turkmenistan expo, Olympic Village in Ashgabat

According to Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Mikhail Myatlikov, eight contracts to the tune of $10.5 million have been signed before the expo. These are the contracts involving the following companies: Belneftekhim, Belshina, Mogilevkhimvolokno to provide polyethylene for the production of bottles, Mogotex, Mogilev Meat-Packing Plant, Minsk Kristall to deliver finished products and Belarusian ethanol. Besides, the expo featured the stands of the Education Ministry, Sport and Tourism Ministry to discuss the education of Turkmen students at Belarusian universities. Alexander Lukashenko saw the expositions of Belarusian and Turkmen products. Near the stands with printed products Belarus Information Minister Lilia Ananich presented the Belarusian translation of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s book “Good Name is Imperishable”. In this book the Turkmenistan leader writes about his grandfather who was a school teacher. The book was published under the aegis of the Information Ministry’s program.

On 11 December the Belarusian leader also visited the Olympic Village where he saw a multi-purpose sports arena, a cycling track, and a weightlifting gym.
