Lukashenko supports draft decree on wages at budget-sponsored organizations

MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko supported a draft decree on wages in the budget sector, Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich told reporters on 26 May, BelTA informs.

One of the norms specifies that salaries at budget-sponsored organizations will not be lower than a minimum wage. Workers of budget-sponsored organizations will also get corresponding benefits if they have to work part time or if a company is out of service. “Benefits will be paid from the budget only to cover the difference between the amount paid by the organization and a minimum wage,” Maksim Yermolovich said.

“The draft decree aims to settle a couple of issues of budget-sponsored organizations. Our social infrastructure was developed taking into account the fact that the objects of this infrastructure will provide budget services as well as paid services to the population. Non-budget funds are used to sponsor such objects, especially sports, cultural, and healthcare organizations,” the minister said.

In his words, because of lower attendance income financing sources have reduced significantly in recent time, especially in the past two months. “Therefore, in order to preserve labor collectives, support people providing paid services it is necessary to take measures aimed at, among other things, finding sources for the coverage of these expenses,” Maksim Yermolovich said.

Corresponding approaches were supported by the head of state. However, this support will be provided in terms of strict budget restrictions. Organizations need to save jobs, find new ways for making money, engage the population restore non-budget incomes. “Only in case this activity is not performed due to any reason, budget assistance will be provided,” the finance minister stressed.
