Lukashenko: Recent events are pushing Belarus and Russia towards closest cooperation

MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – The recent events are pushing Belarus and Russia towards closest cooperation, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media at a polling station in Minsk on 27 February, BelTA has learned.

"What is happening now pushes us to the closest cooperation," the president said. “Given the sanctions announced by the West against Russia, blocking of access to certain technologies, Russia’s interaction with Belarus in the production of microcircuits and similar products is becoming more relevant than ever. "We have preserved Planar, Horizont and BelOMO producers," the head of state said. “Putin and I discussed this issue more than once. We will survive. They will not be able to starve us to death. We have enough land, we have fertilizers, farm machines, and processing factories. Will we be able to sell? There are 150 million people. We will consume everything."

The world is not limited only to the markets of the United States and the European Union, the president said. "Asia has risen to this level [the level of developed Western countries]. We will have markets. It's just that now we need to mobilize and work a little harder because they have created a lot of challenges for us."
