MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko named the priorities for the country’s transport industry as he delivered his annual Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

The head of state stressed that producing goods was not enough. These goods should also be delivered to the consumer. “We trade with almost every country on this planet. Monthly export revenue is about $4 billion. The task for fast redirection of supplies from the markets which closed to us remains relevant. We have found new logistic routes. Agreements with Russia on road, air and rail transportation are being implemented. Some 20 Russian seaports are already involved in this work. But it is not enough. The development of our port infrastructure and new overland routes to China, Iran and other Asian countries must become the absolute priority of our transport industry,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He stressed that today’s economic tasks were not just about material wellbeing of Belarus. “We will continue to feed and clothe ourselves, provide housing and other amenities of civilization. We will choose ourselves how to live,” the head of state said.
