Lukashenko encourages Uzbek businesses to expand operations in Belarus

MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – Companies from Uzbekistan are most welcome on the Belarusian market, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he visited the Made in Uzbekistan expo together with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 1 August, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko studied the exposition, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev told him about the products that are on display. Uzbekistan producers had an opportunity to talk to the two presidents. They said that the first Forum of Regions gave an impetus to bilateral contacts and helped find new partners.

Representative of the IT sector noted that Uzbekistan has an IT park that is similar to the Belarusian Hi-Tech Park as far as preferences are concerned. This is believed to facilitate bilateral cooperation in the IT sector.

Touring the exhibition of Uzbekistan products, the two heads of state continued discussing bilateral ties, including cooperation in the manufacturing industry. 

The exhibition is taking place on 29 July - 2 August. It is timed to the official visit of the Uzbekistan leader to Minsk. The expo is structured into 15 thematic sections and features ten regional expositions. A total of 80 companies are taking part in the event. Thematic sections include industries like mechanical engineering, oil and gas sector, chemical industry, mining, electrical engineering, pharmaceutics, construction, textile, leather and footwear production, information technology, food industry, agriculture and wine-making, and tourism. The open-air exhibition area of BelExpo displays 12 vehicles made in Uzbekistan, including cars and trucks, a city bus, truck tractors and semi-trailers.
 
The exposition was organized by the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Economy and Industry of Uzbekistan with the support of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
