MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) - In his Address to the Belarusian People and Parliament on 18 December, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko highlighted the critical importance of localization and cooperation, using the woodworking industry as an example, BelTA has learned.
The president emphasized the necessity of localization and cooperation in manufacturing. He noted that it is impossible to produce absolutely everything, but it is necessary to rationally utilize the potential of cooperation with all partners. “Combining production expertise and solving tasks related to key technologies is critically important,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
“We have successful experience in implementing import-substitution projects with the Russian Federation, ranging from microelectronics and aircraft manufacturing to the localization of automotive components and assemblies. There are also many joint initiatives in partnership with the People's Republic of China,” stated the head of state.
Aleksandr Lukashenko cited the pulp and paper industry as an example, where several projects are underway. “This is an extremely promising field, attracting growing interest from other international players. We can and must meet this demand. In our forest-rich Belarus, there is an ample supply of raw material – timber - for such projects. Consequently, every forestry unit must be supplied with domestically produced, multi-purpose logging equipment and deliver at least 25 million cubic meters of round timber for processing each year,” the president tasked.
