MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – It is necessary to intensify work in key markets, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting on draft forecast documents for the coming year, BelTA has learned.
“We need to strengthen accountability for effective work in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan. This initiative comes from you, and you are right about it. These markets are huge, and we are welcome there. We need to intensify our work in our core markets,” the head of state said.
He noted that the Russian president recently pointed out that bilateral trade between Belarus and Russia exceeds Russia’s trade with all other CIS countries combined.
“That’s a welcome fact. So isn’t this a signal for us to increase our presence in these markets, where the population has grown exponentially since Soviet times and there is a huge demand for everything from food to industrial goods?” the president asked.
The head of state remarked that several CIS nations, like Uzbekistan, are experiencing substantial population growth. “They need to be fed,” he noted. “And to feed people, they must cultivate the land. We possess all the necessary means for this. We maintain excellent relations with Shavkat Miromonovich [Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev], as we do with all heads of state. Take Kazakhstan, for instance, a vast territory with a population of 20 million.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko underscored that delivering high-quality products is the paramount objective, as quality is something Belarus is famous for. “Russian governors and citizens, as I have noted before, are happy to purchase Belarusian products, even if they are somewhat more expensive than goods from other countries,” he concluded.
