MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President, Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on the shipbuilding sector as he spoke at the session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 19 December, BelTA has learned.
Speaking about shipbuilding, the head of state noted that at one point, the shipbuilding and ship repair plant in Pinsk was nearly destroyed. “We had enough sense to preserve some of its expertise. We are ready to produce small and medium-sized vessels there. They are needed in vast quantities. We do possess certain expertise,” he emphasized. Furthermore, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Russia is ready to share its technologies with Belarus.
“Let's invest money here. There is a demand, there is expertise, there are specialists [available]. We will build these vessels and sell them. Perhaps they will also be useful for us, for navigating the Pripyat River, the Dnieper, or other waterways. The main point is that there is a market,” the president said.
