Lithuanian trucks to be able to leave parking lots in Belarus only after border reopening

Lithuanian trucks to be able to leave parking lots in Belarus only after border reopening

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Lithuanian trucks will be able to leave their parking areas in Belarus after Lithuania reopens its border, the State Customs Committee told BelTA.

The Belarusian customs authority explained the measure: “To prevent unsafe conditions on the access roads to the Šalčininkai and Medininkai border crossings, which have been closed by the Lithuanian side, over 1,100 Lithuanian-registered trucks that were waiting for the reopening along the roads have been moved to specially designated areas on the Belarusian side. The vehicles will be parked near the Kamenny Log, Berestovitsa, Benyakoni, and Kotlovka border crossings.”

The movement of Lithuanian trucks in both directions across the Belarusian-Lithuanian border was suspended as of 9:00 a.m. on 10 November.

The State Customs Committee warned: “If Lithuania continues its unfriendly policy and refuses to accommodate its carriers, the Belarusian side has the right to take legal action against these vehicles. The trucks will be able to leave the parking lots, but only after the Lithuanian side has fully resumed traffic across the Belarusian-Lithuanian section of the border.”
