MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – The Lithuanian government has decided in favor of reopening ahead of schedule the two border crossings at the border with Belarus that have been temporarily closed for over two weeks, Lithuanian mass media report.
The border crossing Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side) and Salcininkai (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side) are supposed to reopen as from tomorrow, 20 November.
“Taking into account decisions made by the National Security Commission on 18 November 2025 stipulating that the circumstances have changed and the restrictions on crossing the state border, which were established on 29 October 2025, are no longer necessary for ensuring domestic security, it is advisable to lift the restrictions set by the mentioned resolution,” Lithuanian Minister of the Interior Vladislav Kondratovic said at the session.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene previously stated that the National Security Commission recommended reopening the two border crossings at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. In her words, preparations for opening the border will take one day.
Lithuania previously intended to keep the border crossings closed till 30 November.
