Large-scale Belarus expo in Uzbekistan on 14-19 September

MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) - A large-scale exhibition "Made in Belarus” will be held in Uzbekistan on 14-19 September, BelTA learned from the Belinterexpo company at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The exhibition will feature more than 100 flagship enterprises: BelAZ, MTZ, Belshina, Belarusian Forest Company, Beryozastroymaterialy, Adani, BelOMO, Conte Spa, Kommunarka, Babushkina Krynka, Belryba and others.

Made in Belarus will run several thematic expositions. The country’s large industrial enterprises will showcase samples of agricultural and municipal vehicles, innovative electro-buses, the R&D in the defense industry. Belneftekhim Concern will present a wide range of chemical and petrochemical products. Wood and construction companies will present timber products, tiles and furniture made of natural wood.

Enterprises of the Belarusian light industry will show collections of fashionable apparel and home textiles. A wide range of foods and drinks will be brought from all regions of Belarus. Organizations subordinate of the Communications and Informatization Ministry will display software development services and production of data transmission equipment. Made in Belarus will also feature the latest books published by large publishing houses of Belarus, R&D and innovations from Belarusian scientists, university educational programs, and also recuperation programs in Belarus.

The interest of Belarusian manufacturers in the event is big. “The current political and economic situation in Uzbekistan is perfect for the development of international trade and cooperation. In 2017, the country implemented five reforms in the business sector, introduced free currency conversion and reduced customs duties. The Uzbekistan food market was opened for foreign importers in February 2018. Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev canceled all preferences for local suppliers and instructed the government to attract importers of high-quality food products to the country,” Belinterexpo said.

Uzbekistan has a huge raw-materials base with more than 1,400 field deposits. Almost half of them are under development. Uzbekistan is ranked 4th in gold deposits in the world and 7th in terms of its production (about 92 tonnes annually). The country is 11th in copper reserves and 12th in uranium reserves.

The most populated country in Central Asia (more than 31 million people) demonstrates one of the world’s highest GDP growth rates of 7.6% for the past two years. Positive changes in the country's economy attract foreign investors. In 2017, about $5 billion was invested in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan has intensified relations with Belarus. In 2017, the bilateral trade almost doubled to reach $130 million. Belarusian exports exceeded $96 million.

Made in Belarus expo is almost ready. Belarusian companies of any form of ownership still have time to apply for the participation.

The exhibition is organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the government bodies of the two countries. The expo operator is Belinterexpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
