He stressed that the decision to build the center has been made. The project will be launched soon. Work is currently underway on additional funding options, credit lines.

“We are carefully studying the application to build the cancer center in Grodno. We understand the importance of this facility for the city and the whole region,” Nawaf al-Mahamel said. An agreement to finance the project may be signed soon.

A set of buildings of City Hospital No. 3 will be renovated under the project. The project is expected to be divided into two phases. The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development intends to invest about $25 million in each of them. The first phase, which is scheduled to complete in 2023, provides for the construction of radiological and surgical facilities and to purchase essential medical equipment.

Nawaf al-Mahamel noted that it is not the only joint project of the fund with Belarus. Three investment cases are currently on the table.
