MOSCOW, 19 June (BelTA) - Kurgan Oblast is interested in Belarusian technologies and agricultural equipment, Kurgan Oblast Governor Alexei Kokorin said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko in Saint Petersburg on 19 June at the sidelines of Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, BelTA learnt from the press service of the embassy.
Igor Petrishenko took note of the need to maintain the present level of bilateral cooperation. In his words, the first meeting of the joint working group on cooperation between the governments of Belarus and Kurgan Oblast added a strong impetus to cooperation. The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission is confident that there are still a number of areas where Belarus and the Russian region could cooperate more actively. The parties emphasized the need to expand industrial cooperation, increase the lineup of agricultural vehicles assembled at Kurgan Oblast companies, organize supplies of Belarusian agricultural vehicles, machinery, component parts and other products. Belarus and Kurgan Oblast could also cooperate more vigorously in crop science, cattle breeding, agricultural processing.
The Ambassador noted the need to develop and sign an action plan on trade, economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation between the governments of Belarus and Kurgan Oblast for 2016-2018. Igor Petrishenko invited representatives of Kurgan Oblast to visit Belarus and take part in the international agricultural exhibition Belagro 2016.
In turn, the Governor of Kurgan Oblast believes that cooperation between Minsk Automobile Plant and Promagroleasing can be promising in what concerns the supplies of Belarusian products of mechanical engineering. The parties also discussed other areas of cooperation, including the supplies of medical products and setting up a trading house Belshina in the Russian region.
According to the press service of the embassy, Igor Petrishenko held a number of meetings on the second day of the forum. He met with Governor of Yaroslavl Oblast Sergei Yastrebov, governor of Perm Krai Viktor Basargin, Governor of Altai Krai Alexander Karlin, Governor of Ryazan Oblast Oleg Kovalev, Governor of Tula Oblast Vladimir Gruzdyev, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergei Katyrin, Rector of the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo Andrei Sharonov, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko, Head of the Republic of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen, Moscow Vice Mayor Natalia Sergunina.
The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission also took part in a plenary session of the forum, attended a session of the investment climate in Russian regions.
