MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) – Belarus’ imports to Kazakhstan are eight times higher than exports, Amangali Berdalin, a member of the Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues of Mazhilis of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, told reporters in Minsk on 15 December, BelTA reports.

"We pay great attention to our economic cooperation. Now the markets of Central Asia, China have a great outlook and Kazakhstan is a gateway to them. We call on our Belarusian partners to open joint ventures in Kazakhstan, to expand economic ties," Amangali Berdalin said. “To date, Belarus’ imports to Kazakhstan are eight times higher than exports. This, on the one hand, is good. But, on the other hand, we must work and produce the same good-quality goods that Belarus manufactures."

Cultural ties between the two countries are also growing stronger. "You all know that Kazakhstan is home to 150 ethnicities. Everyone lives in peace and harmony. There are Belarusian Sunday schools in Kazakhstan. In this sense, the closer the MPs of the two states communicate, the stronger our ties grow," the MP added.

Svetlana Lyubetskaya, the head of the working group of the Parliament of Belarus on cooperation with the Parliament of Kazakhstan, hosted a meeting with members of the working group of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus at the House of Representatives in Minsk on 15 December.

A parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan is visiting Belarus on 15-16 December. The program of the visit envisages meetings with representatives of the House of Representatives. Kazakhstan’s MPs are set to visit Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), the agricultural complex Dzerzhinsky, get familiar with the production of enterprises affiliated with the Belarusian state concern for the production and sale of light industry goods.
