Investors from various countries interested in Belarusian IT industry

GOMEL, 18 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian IT industry as a whole and Gomel’s in particular are interesting for investors from various countries, BelTA learned from Sam Patel, director of the Australian company Patel Group, during the international forum Business Days in Gomel on 18 October.

Sam Patel said: “I’ve heard a lot about the development of the IT industry in Belarus, including in Gomel. If you invest smartly in this industry now, the future revenue may be unlimited.”

In his words, a number of joint projects are being discussed with various Belarusian companies. “The key thing is that it is very profitable to develop various applications here. It is what I am interested in. I hope certain agreements will be signed soon,” the businessman said. Sam Patel stressed that many colleagues of his are also curious about the region and are considering the possibility of investing.

The viability of doing business in Gomel Oblast was mentioned by Mauro Mazzali, an export manager in the Italian company OMPB. He said a Belarusian-Italian joint venture already operates in the region. It specializes in metalworking and making various components for machines and equipment. “We see prospects of development of this territory. There are many opportunities here, for instance, the large market of Russia is nearby,” he said. Mauro Mazzali also mentioned the good quality of work of the Belarusian specialists the joint venture employs.

The fifth international forum Business Days in Gomel has brought together people from 18 countries. Three panel sessions are supposed to take place as part of the forum. The first one focused on modern technologies for bolstering the competitive ability of the region, in particular, the use of innovative technologies and modern approaches in production sector, agriculture, and civil engineering. The second panel session focuses on what cooperation between chambers of commerce and business unions can do for the sake of development of the regions. Participants of the session are discussing effective tools for expanding the entrepreneurship sphere, for finding new markets and raising investments. Projections, new technologies, and effective solutions for the development of international logistics and the management of sale chains will be in the center of attention of the third session.

The 16th Belarusian universal expo Business in the Regions continues working today as well. It is meant to demonstrate the latest products made by Gomel Oblast companies to foreign guests and participants of the forum. It will help find business partners, establish trade and economic contacts with a wide circle of the international business community.

The events have been organized by the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with assistance of the Gomel Oblast administration.
