Investment and new products are suggested for expansion of cooperation with France

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Pavel Latushko suggests expanding cooperation between Belarus and France with the help of investments and new products. The diplomat made the statement during his interview to the Belarus One TV channel amid the ongoing Belarusian-French business week in Paris, BelTA has learned.

It was noted that the trade between the two countries has potential for growing, while cooperation can be further expanded. According to Pavel Latushko, a lot depends on the activity of companies, investment attraction, investing by the Belarusian business in new manufacturing facilities and entering markets with new products. “This will help us rectify the situation,” he said.

Apart from that, Belarus has considerable experience in the construction sector, and this knowledge is needed in France. For instance, there is an interest in wooden country houses the Belarusian private firm builds. The countries plan to expand cooperation in such areas as woodworking, banking management, agriculture and tourism.

According to the Embassy of Belarus in France, the program of the Belarusian-French business week which is running from 23 to 27 May includes meetings between government bodies and businessmen. Talks have already been held by representatives of BelAZ, MAZ, Belarusian Steel Works, Gomelsteklo and other companies with potential French partners interested in the export of products to the markets of France and West Africa.

Representatives of Elema Company held talks at the French Association of Women’s Wear Producers and also with potential partners in the textile industry.

Representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Center of Marketing and Price Study held meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finance Ministry of France, and also with potential product exporters to the French market.

Negotiations are envisaged between representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Transport Ministry, Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus and the relevant ministries of France.
