International experts note Belarus’ high scientific potential in display technology

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Belarus has a high scientific potential in the area of display technologies, BelTA learned from Professor of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, member of the European Academy of Sciences Vladimir Chigrinov during the international conference EuroDisplay 2019. The conference is taking place in Minsk on 17-20 September, the press service of the Belarusian University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) told BelTA.

Vladimir Chigrinov mentioned the high scientific potential and opportunities opening up in Belarus. He also mentioned interest of young people in innovations, promising fields in the area of display technologies.

The organization of such an international forum in Minsk will encourage more Belarusian specialists to explore international science opportunities. It is particularly important for young people, students and postgraduate students of the Belarusian University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, who have an opportunity to learn straight from the horse's mouth about cutting-edge accomplishments, the university’s Rector Vadim Bogush said.

Leading experts from the USA, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, China, Japan, Singapore, and other countries have come to Minsk for the conference. R&D specialists took part in the display technology seminar “Tutorial for young researchers on display technologies”. They gave lectures on the latest trends and innovations in the area of display technology and shared practical knowledge and tricks for implementing large-scale projects concerning the development of information display solutions.

The conference has been organized by the Society for Information Displays (SID, USA) and the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR). Participants of the forum are busy discussing matters of current interest such as display technologies, thin-film transistors (TFT), e-ink, and virtual reality technology.

Minsk is the sixth city to host the EuroDisplay conference. The BSUIR press service told BelTA the forum was held every two years in the past. It will become an annual event. The next EuroDisplay conference will take place in Stuttgart, Germany in 2020.
