Industrial Park Great Stone, China Merchants Group, Sinomach sign agreement on strategic cooperation

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) - The administration of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone, China Merchants Group and Sinomach signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in the area of investment in the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park, BelTA has learned.

Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov met with top executives of these Chinese companies earlier today. "The Belarusian-Chinese Industrial Park is seen by our Chinese partners as a key platform for the Silk Road Economic Belt, and we expect that China Merchants Group will really build a ‘dry dock’ - a powerful logistics company which will be one of the most important elements of our joint park," said Andrei Kobyakov.

China Merchants Group is a leading company that is present on almost all continents of the world and has great experience of working in industrial parks. "This is good that we have a partner who can give additional impetus to the development of our park," said the Prime Minister.

Speaking of the cooperation with Sinomach, Andrei Kobyakov said that there are already successful joint projects. "I would like to mention our joint work on the upgrade of the Bereza and Lukoml district power plants. Now these units operate very efficiently. In addition, we are implementing a project to upgrade the Svetlogorsk pulp and paperboard mill: building a facility to manufacture sulfate bleached pulp. We have agreed on a new project to produce viscose cellulose at this mill,” the head of government noted.

"Belarus views your companies as very important strategic partners in the development of the Belarusian-Chinese Industrial Park,” the Prime Minister concluded.
