Indian businessmen praise investment potential of Belarusian special economic zone Bremino-Orsha

VITEBSK, 5 June (BelTA) – Indian businessmen think highly of the investment potential of the multimodal industrial and logistics complex Bremino-Orsha in the town of Bolbasovo, Orsha District, Vitebsk Oblast. Members of the Indian delegation shared their views with mass media after visiting the construction site, BelTA has learned.

Ambassador of India to Belarus Sangeeta Bahadur noted: “The site is well-positioned from the point of view of logistics. The place is located at the border of countries. The fact opens up great opportunities for manufacturing business and trade with European Union and Eurasian Economic Union countries.” In her opinion, the participation of Indian companies in the project will contribute to an increase in direct investments between the two countries.

According to Director of OOO Bremino Group Vasily Dementei, the first stage of the facility will be ready by the end of the year. As part of the first stage an automobile terminal will be commissioned and all the necessary conditions for the operation of customs service, border service, phytosanitary and veterinary service units will be enabled. The volume of this year’s intended investments exceeds Br40 million.

The Indian businessmen visited Orsha District as part of the arrangements made by the Confederation of Indian Industry and OOO Bremino Group during the Belarusian-Indian business forum the day before to promote the Bremino-Orsha project. The delegation included representatives of companies specializing in making electric appliances, textiles, automobiles, chemical agents for agriculture, and other products.

The Indian businessmen were strongly interested in products of the Orsha dairy plant and the Orsha tinned meat plant, the Sladkaya Strana enterprise (a branch of the confectionery factory Vitba). Prospects of cooperation were discussed with representatives of the district administration. The arrival of Indian companies in the special economic zone Bremino-Orsha was mentioned as well as the creation of an industrial cluster over there.
