MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to review the economic situation in Belarus started working in Minsk on 29 October, BelTA learned from the IMF office in Belarus.

“The IMF mission led by Jacques Miniane will work in Minsk from 29 October till 5 November. The aim of the mission is to review the current economic situation in the country,” the IMF office said.

The IMF mission is set to meet with representatives of the Belarusian government, the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, and experts.

As BelTA has reported, an IMF Article IV Consultation mission is expected in early 2020. During an Article IV consultation, an IMF team of economists visits a country to assess economic and financial developments and discuss the country's economic and financial policies with government and central bank officials. Upon return to the IMF headquarters, the team prepares a report.
