Guinea interested in Belarusian tractors

MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Guinea will develop cooperation in industry, agriculture and other fields, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told journalists after he held talks with Guinea Minister for International Cooperation Koutoub Moustapha Sano on 17 June, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei said that the parties stressed their mutual willingness to strengthen Belarus-Guinea ties. “Belarus is ready to establish mutually beneficial cooperation with Guinea in such fields as industry, agriculture, education, and healthcare,” the minister noted.

Agriculture was named among the most promising areas of cooperation. Being an agrarian country, Guinea needs Belarusian tractors with attachments. The African country also relies on Belarus’ help in setting up grain drying facilities. Besides, Guinea is interested in Belarus’ experience in the construction of agro-towns. The Guinean delegation will visit a number of such towns during the visit.

Vladimir Makei and Koutoub Moustapha Sano agreed to develop a legal framework necessary for the development of bilateral cooperation. The Guinean minister explained that they were talking about a general framework agreement between Belarus and Guinea and a draft intergovernmental agreement on mutual investment protection. Koutoub Moustapha Sano extended an invitation to Vladimir Makei to visit the Guinean capital Conakry to sign the documents.

In his words, representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus and Guinea will meet to discuss some concrete cooperation areas in the near future. Koutoub Moustapha Sano noted that automobile manufacturing, woodworking, and mining industry also represent promising areas of cooperation.
