GRODNO, 17 December (BelTA) - Matters of mutually beneficial cooperation in tourism and logistics were discussed during a visit of a delegation of China’s Hainan Province to Grodno Oblast of Belarus, BelTA learned from the economy committee of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.

The guests got acquainted with the economic and tourism potential of the region, visited the free economic zone Grodnoinvest and attended a meeting to discuss the prospects for cooperation.

“We may be interested in the experience of attracting investors and tourists, organizing business in this sector as Hainan Province is known for its resorts.

Interaction can stimulate an increase in tourist flows in both directions. In addition, favorable geographical positions of the regions and well-developed transport links provide an opportunity to develop cooperation in logistics,” the economy committee said. The parties agreed to expand contacts, find partners for interregional cooperation and implement specific projects.

This is not the first region of China, with which Grodno Oblast is establishing cooperation. For example, the Belarusian region maintains good ties with Gansu Province and Fujian Province.

The economy committee informed that Grodno Oblast is expanding its presence on the Chinese market. For example, the region supplied meat and dairy products worth more than $16.8 million this year. The growth rate exceeded 260%. Now work is underway to diversify exports.
