MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – Grodno Azot will continue negotiating a contract to build a nitrogen complex with the Italian company Tecnimont, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian company.

In 2019 Grodno Azot ran a tender to select a general contractor to build the new nitrogen complex in Grodno. Invitations to take part in the tender were sent to nine companies. Bids were submitted by five companies, including three from China (CITIC, CMIC, Complant), one from the Republic of Korea (Samsung) and one from Italy (Tecnimont).

The bids of the Chinese and Korean companies were declined as they did not meet negotiation requirements.

According to Grodno Azot, the Italian company Tecnimont has already implemented similar projects before. In its bid the company set out indicative terms of getting loans from European banks.

“The tender committee of Grodno Azot made a decision to announce Tecnimont the winner of the negotiating process and to continue talks in order to sign a contract with the Italian company that seeks to become the general contractor for the project,” the Belarusian company informed.

A reminder, the commissioning of the new nitrogen complex is expected to increase nitrogen fertilizers production more than 1.5 times.
