MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Regions of Belarus and Georgia have great cooperation potential, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

“We see great potential for interregional cooperation,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted. He pointed out that the Council of the Republic is a body with regional representation. The official added that apart from trade, it is also important to strengthen cooperation in manufacturing, investments, and other areas.

Mikhail Myasnikovich pointed out that the current visit of the Georgian Prime Minister to Belarus can be considered a landmark event. “It marks a new stage of our cooperation,” he said.

“At the level of the parliament, we will do everything necessary to create favorable conditions for the implementation of the agreements signed during your visit,” Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed. Belarus seeks stronger business ties and closer cooperation with Georgia in all fields. Special working groups have been set up in the parliaments of the two countries to address the matter. The Belarusian official emphasized that interaction in international organizations is of no less importance. “The range of tools is quite extensive. However, we can work more actively to strengthen cooperation in this area,” the Chairman of the Council of the Republic said.
