Good outlook on assembly of Belarusian vehicles in Turkey

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – Turkey is ready to help set up assembly plants for Belarusian vehicles in its territory. The relevant statement was made during a meeting between Belarusian Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Savinykh and Turkish Science, Industry and Technology Minister Faruk Ozlu, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The sides discussed the expansion of industrial cooperation in the automotive industry, in particular, in the production of electric cars, utility vehicles, and forage harvesters. The Turkish counterpart pledged support for projects to set up assembly plants for Belarusian vehicles in Turkey,” the press service noted.

Andrei Savinykh drew attention of the Turkish minister to the economic potential of the Belarusian free economic zones and the Great Stone industrial park. They are viewed as promising platforms for Turkish businessmen in terms of setting up companies producing vehicle components for automakers in the Eurasian Economic Union.

As a result of the meeting, the sides agreed to hold another session of the Belarusian-Turkish working group on industrial and technology cooperation in Minsk in November 2017.

They also paid special attention to strengthening cooperation in science and technology and discussed the preparations for and holding of the Belarusian-Turkish innovations forum due in Minsk in early 2018.
